CHS FFA Turf and Lawn Management team placed 2nd at state level competition. Congratulations to all your hard work.
Students were required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the turfgrass industry; identify various species of turfgrasses, weeds, and pests; and work as a team to solve problems related to determining appropriate fertilizer rates for grasses.

Participants in the Milk Quality and Products Career Development Event (CDE) demonstrate their knowledge about the quality production, processing, distribution, promotion and marketing of milk and dairy foods. This team will continue on to compete in the national competition in October!
Participants are tested on their ability to assess and interpret soil profiles and land characteristics, determining the best land use practices based on their findings, including aspects of soil texture, structure, drainage, slope, and vegetation at a given site. This team has qualified to compete in the National Land and Range Competition in Oklahoma in May!
In the Veterinary Science Career Development Event (CDE), students working in teams demonstrate their technical competency with small and large animals by completing a written exam, critical-thinking scenario questions, identifications and hands-on practicums.
Congratulations to the CHS Academic Team! They are district champions for the second year in a row!! Way to go!

Due to temperatures remaining well below freezing and the likelihood of roadways refreezing, causing unsafe travel conditions, Horry County Schools will have another eLearning day on Friday, January 24, 2025. All extracurricular activities (athletic and other extracurricular events) scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2025, will be rescheduled.
