Science National Honor Society

Science National Honors Society is an academic nationwide honor society focused on science for high school students in the United States. The society was established in 2000 in Texas and has expanded to over 1733 schools in all 50 states.

  • Students must complete 20 Hours of science related community service.
  • Student membership is during the last 2 years of Secondary school
  • Must maintain a 3.5 in all Science courses
  • Enrolled in upper level Sciences
  • To earn a cord must be enrolled for 2 consecutive years.

Requirements:

  • Must be a junior or senior
  • A member must maintain a B average overall and a B+ average (3.5 on a 4.0 scale) across all science courses.
  • A member must be enrolled in at least one honors or upper level science class during or prior to the eleventh grade
  • A member must be enrolled in at least one second year honors or upper level science class during or prior to the twelfth grade
  • If a second year honors or upper level science courses are not offered by the school, then the student must be enrolled in a second first year honors or upper level science class during or prior to the twelfth grade
  • Each member needs to complete 20 hours of (science based) community service yearly
  • Each member needs to hand in a yearly dues of $20
  • There is only 1 excused absence for meetings. An excused absence must require a note from a teacher, coach, doctor, ect
  • Each member needs to turn in a current transcript each year
